How to Connect Roundcube Webmail to Your Mobile Phone
A practical guide to receiving, synchronizing, and sending your Roundcube email from Android or iPhone.
Important: Roundcube is the webmail interface you use inside a web browser. Your mobile phone connects directly to the underlying mailbox using IMAP for receiving and synchronizing messages, and SMTP for sending them.
Before You Begin
Have the following credentials and server details ready before starting configuration:

Android: Add Account in Gmail App
- Open the Gmail app on your Android device.
- Tap your profile picture or account icon in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Add another account.
- Select Other (do not select Google unless hosted directly on Google Workspace).
- Enter your full email address and tap Next.
- Choose Personal (IMAP) when prompted.
- Enter your mailbox password.
- For the Incoming server, enter your IMAP hostname (e.g.,
imap.example.com) with port993andSSL/TLSsecurity. - For the Outgoing server, enter your SMTP hostname (e.g.,
smtp.example.com) with port465(SSL/TLS) or587(STARTTLS). - Complete the prompts and send a test email to verify synchronization.
iPhone: Add Account in Apple Mail
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Go to Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts (or Settings > Mail > Accounts on older iOS versions).
- Tap Add Account, then select Add Other Account > Mail Account.
- Enter your Name, Email address, Password, and a Description (e.g., Work Email), then tap Next.
- Select IMAP at the top.
- Under Incoming Mail Server, fill in the Host Name, User Name (full email), and Password.
- Under Outgoing Mail Server, fill in the SMTP Host Name, User Name, and Password (even if marked optional).
- Tap Next, then tap Save. Open Apple Mail to send a test message.
